Clock Hour Policy

Academic Misconduct Policies

Clock hours are the foundation of NeuAge Institute’s educational programs, ensuring that instructional time is consistent, transparent, and compliant with DEAC and federal guidelines. One clock hour is defined as 50 minutes of structured instructional activity within a 60-minute period. Students are expected to engage fully in all scheduled academic activities, whether live or asynchronous, to meet the learning outcomes of their courses and programs.

To preserve the integrity of NeuAge Institute programs and uphold the quality of instruction, faculty and administration carefully monitor and verify clock hours through the learning management system (LMS), faculty-student interaction, and assignment completion. All course syllabi document estimated time-on-task and clock hour requirements, ensuring students understand the expectations for participation and progress.

Clock Hour Measurement

Clock hours are calculated based on structured, faculty-directed learning activities. These include:

  • Engagement with asynchronous instructional content, such as recorded lectures, videos, and interactive modules.
  • Completion of assessments, including quizzes, exams, assignments, and case studies.
  • Participation in faculty feedback sessions, discussion forums, and capstone projects.
  • Submission of written assignments and projects evaluated with rubrics.
  • Guided practice activities designed to reinforce course objectives.

Verification of Instructional Time

Instructional time is verified through multiple methods, including LMS tracking (logins, video watch logs, and time-on-task estimates), faculty-student communication records, and documented submissions of assignments and assessments. This ensures that each student’s engagement is measurable and tied directly to the achievement of course outcomes.

Oversight and Enforcement

The Academic Affairs Committee, in collaboration with the Office of the Registrar, ensures consistent application of the Clock Hour Policy across all programs. Violations, such as falsification of records or misrepresentation of time spent on tasks, may result in academic penalties and are subject to institutional review.

By maintaining clear and consistent standards for clock hour measurement, NeuAge Institute safeguards the academic rigor of its programs, ensures compliance with accrediting and regulatory requirements, and supports student success.
